What I notice is they bring the key higher to make the song sound more sugary and sentimental, (the original key is F minor but here its C major, most things in C major IMO sounds super sappy and saccharine), as well as to give the excuse to make the voices sound really shrill and kind of whiny, the original song in the original key is much more powerful and soulful.
Finally, someone who saw the movie the way I did. Being deep and sophisticated are actually curses. In the words of Lynyrd Skynyrd "Be a simple kind of man."
Not really. He’s deeply wounded and terrified to make relationships or give anything good to the world. That’s not exactly Buddhist as much as it is regression into an emotionally childlike state.
This One, a Long Time, Have I Watched. Aaaaaall His Life, Has He Looked Away - to The Future - to The Horizon. NEVER His Mind on WHERE He WAS..!! Humrph! WHAT He Was DOING..!!
Revisiting this film again after 10 years, I find myself suddenly much moved , seeing this - and moved in the direction of actually doing something concrete and practical : I heard a statistic somewhere a while back about just how many children under 12 in this country act as the registered primary, live-in carer to their sole remaining housebound, mobility-impaired or similarly chronically unwell parent in this country, who have to look after and care for THEM, and it is a lot, something like 10,000 or more the last time I heard the figures quoted. By the time I report back, I will have some hard data and numbers I will be able to quote here -- I suddenly feel the need to do something about that.
I’m Luke Skywalker, I’m Here to Save You. By Example. Through Sunnah. Modern Parents, especially single mothers, unable to cope on their own, react with such violent and defensive hostility if you try to offer them any advice, or unsolicited offers of support or respite or urgently-needed resources, like extra clothes or food or somewhere to stay while they get themselves sorted out - which is why his mother instantly leaps to the worst possible, and completely absurd conclusion that he has to be a predatory pædophile, grooming her boy for sexual abuse, because that’s the only option or explanation available to her, wherein she gets to maintain the advantage of being proactive and aggrieved by behaving correctly as a protective - if rather inattentive - mother, instead of as both a sickly, massively overwhelmed and poor mother and a disgraceful failure of a father (as she is obliged to try to fulfil the requirements of both parental roles, in spite of being well enough to even take proper care of herself, let alone her boy).
Fate Wills it So. All Three of Them. He can’t lie to them, he can’t run away, he can’t even resist -Because Between Them, They Know His Whole Past, They Can See Exactly What and Who He Is, and They See Exactly What He Is Going to Say and Do in 14,000,605 possible alternative futures - and he cannot escape his newfound, newly-bestowed responsibilities in ANY of them.... Surrender, Stephen....
Mhmm I used to do this all the time, look for men to date my mom because she cried all the time and was suicidal and said she needed a husband or boyfriend and the men were like what on Earth are you talking about and why are you following me around. Go away you kid jerk. :( I was sad.
+alice beckett If you like this song there's other song that will you like too... "God Only Knows" it just one of the greatest song ever made, The Beach Boys, by Carl Wilson.
I wonder about that final scene where he's walking on the bridge in the camo jacket. Is that supposed to be that he's trying to blend in with society but actually because he's going completely against the grain he really stands out as being wrong?
Yes but if you think about it, even if he does think that he is an island he clearly isn't. Therefore the film suggests that John Donne's statement is true and although Will is unable to see it "no man is an island" including him.
My reaction are exactly like him when my niece keep interrogating me about being "busy" 😂
Hugh Grant is hilarious 🤣
My cousin's name is Christine.
time units of 30 min... must be amazing to be that rich 😊 I always thought 20 min will be very good for me since I gotta work to pay the bills 💜
Hugh Grant is one of my favorite actors. Love his cool sarcasm and lovely speaking. Never tired of this movie. The boy is so cute.
While I disagree with him, he is partially right To quote Game of Thrones: "If you try to fix the problems of the world, you will weep forever..."
Favorite movie of all time.
Its sad no one talks about this movie.

Now I'm starring in a theatre adaptation of this film ahahahahaha
20 years later, and the junta is still here.
Why would a 12 year old boy be allowed to walk around London
Back when you wouldn’t get started in for nothing by some utter scumbags
Lord of the rings here, Jim. Took only 10 years and darn it all. There WAS reason for everyone to be concerned. How divine is that?
this movie makes me wanna watch two and half men
The two seconds of him "almost" volunteering at the soup kitchen are the favorite part of the movie for me.
Обожаю этот фильм! Очень глубокий он. Мальчик играет превосходно. Тони и Хью тоже чудесны
Cool
His ideas about lack of attachment are a core part of Buddhism. He is actually on to something, even if it makes him seem shallow.
he has everything but there is something missing inside.. that something is the Love of Jesus Christ.. great film though :)

This movie's great. so underrated. Hugh Grant's best role..because he doesn't play some generic romantic douche. His characters actually interesting.

great movie.
